Xiamen, China, hosted the Measuring the Digital Economy 5th International Seminar. It was organized jointly by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the National Bureau of Statistics of China, and the Global Center for Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics in Hangzhou.
Representatives of the UN Statistics Division, the National Bureau of Statistics of China, and experts in national statistics from Morocco, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Pakistan, India, Azerbaijan, and other countries attended the event.
The seminar was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Department of Business Environment Surveys and Entrepreneurship Statistics of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Komiljon Gulboev.
According to the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan, the main objective of the seminar was to provide general information on the concept, scope, importance, and possibilities of statistical measurements in the statistical system, production, and trade of e-commerce, digital resources, goods, and services of information and communication technologies (ICT).
International methodologies, classifications, statistical technologies, and best practices for measuring and analyzing various aspects of the digital economy were discussed at the event.
