A marathon was held at the Park of Culture and Rest named after Babur jointly organized by Women's Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Tashkent city khokimiyat (administration).

In the marathon, organized in connection with World Population Day, was attended by activists of the Women's Committee, consultants on religious education and spiritual-moral education, housewives, students.

Under the leadership of the President of our country special attention is focused on strengthening the health of the population, further improvement of the national gene pool, the wide involvement of women in sport.

The construction of modern sports and recreation complexes, swimming pools, gyms, preparation of sports teachers in the Uzbekistan State Institute of Physical Culture for rural areas is a practical reflection of great attention, which is given to development of the sphere.

Within the framework of the State program “Year of Healthy Mother and Child” systematic work is implemented on improving women's health, their widespread involvement in physical education and sport.

A number of events, social events, tournaments are conducted by the Women's Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan to increase interest of girls and women in the sport, the healthy lifestyle promotion in mahallas. More and more people are attracted to such competitions as “Gymnastics for Everybody,” “Dad, Mom, and Me - are sport family”.

Marathon participants run the 1.5 km distance race. Checkers competition with participation of children, creative drawing competition on the asphalt were also conducted. The winners were awarded with memorable gifts.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the chairwoman of the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan E.Basithanova took part at the event.
