15:47 / 2025-10-22

At the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy, during the World Food Forum (WFF), the establishment of the WFF Uzbekistan National Youth Chapter was officially announced. On this occasion, participants were presented with certificates marking the beginning of the Chapter’s activities.

The WFF Uzbekistan National Youth Chapter is a new platform aimed at promoting youth leadership in food security, sustainable agriculture, and climate initiatives. It is the first WFF National Chapter not only in Uzbekistan but also across the entire Central Asian region.

The initiative was proposed by Shovkat Kholdorov and a group of active young leaders working in the country’s agricultural sector, in coordination with FAO Uzbekistan and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and several other partner organizations.

The main goal of the WFF Uzbekistan Youth Chapter is to strengthen the voice of youth, engage them in the process of building sustainable agrifood systems, and make the agricultural sector more attractive to the new generation through innovative, environmental, and social approaches.

“The agriculture of the future is built together with young people. The World Food Forum platform empowers our youth to turn ideas into action, ranging from new technologies and sustainable farming practices to projects that transform lives in rural areas. Supporting the WFF Uzbekistan Youth Chapter means investing in the competencies and leadership of the next generation”, said Sherzod Umarov, FAO Deputy Representative in Uzbekistan.

Within its activities, the youth will develop and promote initiatives in areas such as climate change mitigation, rational use of water resources, land degradation prevention and soil fertility improvement, food security, and youth engagement in agrifood systems at the international level. Another important focus will be strengthening international cooperation and enhancing Uzbekistan’s participation in the global dialogues of the World Food Forum.
