World Day Against Child Labour
22:35 / 2023-06-12

June 12 is World Day Against Child Labour. This date was set by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002 to draw attention to the need to end child labor.

Uzbekistan, a member of the ILO, has taken all measures to eliminate child labor, and in this respect, a positive result has been achieved.

A sufficient normative and legal framework has been formed in the country to prevent child and forced labor. The international community highly appreciated this, particularly the ILO, the World Bank, and the European Parliament.

“The renewed Constitution prohibits any form of child labor that threatens the health, safety, morality, mental and physical development of a child, including those that hinder education”, says Ombudsman for Children's Rights Aliya Yunusova. Because children are the masters of our future. Taking care of them and creating conditions for their comprehensive development is the sacred duty of the state, society, every family, and every parent.

Compliance with international standards on children’s rights is a priority for the Republic of Uzbekistan in protecting children’s rights.

The Declaration of the Rights of the Child emphasizes that States Parties shall ensure the implementation of these rights in accordance with their national law and their obligations under the relevant international instruments in this field, in particular where the child would otherwise be stateless.

Uzbekistan has created a legal framework for eliminating discrimination against women and children.

The necessary measures are being taken for the healthy growth of the child, including him in the system of preschool education. All children of school age study in general education schools.

Consistent efforts are being made to protect the rights of children. Explanatory and outreach work is also being carried out to develop the skills of a fair attitude towards children.
