A virtual workshop took place on “Challenges and threats to regional security and ways to solve them: a view from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan”.
The event was organized by the International Institute for Central Asia jointly with the Institute of Studying the Problems of Asian and European Countries of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
The participants discussed the current security situation in Central Asia, identified key threats to the stable development of the region, and developed specific proposals for building policies in the new conditions.
It was noted that over the past five years, the Central Asian region has moved to a higher level of development, friendship and good neighborliness have been established between the states. More and more new initiatives are put forward in the international arena, not just on behalf of individual countries, but of the entire region.
In the context of growing contradictions in international relations, a decrease in the level of trust and interaction between countries, deepening cooperation, pooling efforts and eliminating factors hindering further development becomes an urgent need.
In this regard, according to experts, analytical institutions have an important place in solving these pressing issues, which should have an effective influence on the formation of the policy of their states.
Following the workshop, the parties noted a positive trend in bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which today have been brought to the level of strategic partnership and are successfully strengthening in all areas.
