Works of outstanding Uzbek poetesses of the 19th century presented in London
A presentation of a collection of translations into English of selected poems by outstanding Uzbek poetesses of the 19th century Uvaysiy and Nodira was organized as part of the work of the Embassy of Uzbekistan to promote the cultural heritage and popularize the country’s tourism potential abroad, together with the Ambassador of the Tourism Brand of Uzbekistan Sophie Ibbotson.
The author of the collection is the British poet Andrew Staniland.
When translating, the author worked closely with two translators: Aidakhon Bumatova (Uzbekistan), a scholar and expert on classical Uzbek literature, and Nazil Elmi, an Afghan translator of Uzbek origin and an expert on Uzbek literature.
