16:01 / 2024-02-06

In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to strengthening the role and status of women in society, increasing their knowledge, providing employment, broadening their horizons, and assisting in choosing a profession based on interests and abilities.

International organizations are implementing essential projects. In particular, the USAID promotes cutting-edge initiatives to empower women in Uzbekistan’s IT sector.

The USAID Senior Coordinator for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Jamille Bigio, representatives of Tumaris.Tech, FoundHer, IT Park, and Plug and Play participated in the next event organized in Tashkent’s IT Park.

Uzbekistan women’s achievements in the IT sector and the results of implemented projects were presented.

The Tumaris.Tech project, launched by IT Park in June 2020 with the support of the USAID Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SEED) project, is an innovative program to empower women entrepreneurs in the information technology sector. The project is now being implemented in five Central Asian countries.

The purpose of the FoundHer project, aimed at developing women’s entrepreneurship, was to find promising business ideas in Uzbekistan. Workshops were organized, the participants of which visited Silicon Valley and took part in the 2023 Winter Summit in the United States.

The achievements were noted, and shortcomings were analyzed at the event.
