International Hotel Tashkent hosted an international conference on “The role of women in democratic renewal and modernization of the country: Uzbekistan’s experience and international practice”.
The event was attended by representatives of domestic and international institutions for women issues, as well as women, actively involved in political, social and economic life.
It was noted that Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan focuses on gender equality issues, constant attention to maintenance of which contributes to strengthening authority of women in state’s and society’s life, increasing their socio-political, social activity, protection of their rights and legitimate interests, supporting motherhood and childhood.
At the conference, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman noted that Uzbekistan is carrying out large-scale reforms not only in women's issues, but also in all spheres.
Within the framework of the event, participants will travel to Samarkand.
Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Women’s Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva delivered a speech at the event.
