An event has been held at Yangiyol District’s Gulbahor township citizens’ gathering devoted to making the socio-moral climate there even healthier for women and girls.The event arranged by the Uzbekistan Women’s Committee was attended by officials of the district hokimiyat (governorate), members of the working group of the regional, district and town women’s committees, active people of neighbourhoods, representatives of the wider public and young people.
In accordance with the presidential decree dated 25 May 2004 “On additional measures to support the activity of the Uzbekistan Women’s Committee”, special attention is being paid to ensuring the stability of the socio-moral climate in neighbourhoods, strengthening families and stepping up moral propagation work among women and young people.
Round-table conversations were held on the subjects of “The fight against human trafficking is an urgent task” and “12-year compulsory education is very important and necessary for us”.
Participants were very impressed by presentations of business ideas by girls who are graduates of the Gulbahor industrial vocational college and by a trade fair of products made by enterprising women.
“This event held as part of the implementation of the Maternal and Child Health state programme is wide in scope,” says Sayyora Fayziyeva, deputy hokim (governor) of Tashkent Region and chairperson of the regional women’s committee.
As part of the event, a sports competition entitled “Gymnastics is for everyone” was held.
