This year, Uzbekistan students won 2 gold, 1 silver, and 10 bronze – 13 medals at international Olympiads in Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and Hungary.
This was noted at a ceremony dedicated to awarding the winners of regional and international Olympiads for the 2022/2023 academic year and their mentors, organized by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education at the specialized school named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
The Minister of Preschool and School Education Khilola Umarova attended the event.
According to the resolution of the Head of state “On measures to organize a continuous system for identifying gifted youth and training highly qualified personnel” of May 3, 2019, it is established that students who win a gold medal are awarded a one-time cash bonus in the amount of 500 times the BCV (165 million UZS), their mentor – 450-fold (148.5 million UZS), those who won a silver medal – 300-fold (99 million UZS), their mentor – 250-fold (82.5 million UZS), those who won a bronze medal – 200-fold (66 million UZS), their mentor – 150-fold (49.5 million UZS).
Winners of international Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology are admitted to universities without passing tests or additional exams.
Participants in the national stage of the main Olympiads who take 1-3 places are provided with a certificate entitling them to receive the maximum score in entrance exams to higher education institutions in specialized subjects, valid for three years.
The winners of the Olympiads, who later work as teachers in educational institutions, are paid a monthly 150 percent premium to their official salary.
