Head of the Department for Epidemiological Monitoring and Preventive Measures Rustam Ikromov noted that so far, the decision of the Republican Special Commission on the mandatory wearing of medical masks in public places has not been adopted, but they recommend citizens to wear medical masks as a precaution.

The Omicron is now the most common coronavirus strain in Uzbekistan. Ninety percent of those infected are unvaccinated citizens. The remaining ten percent are immunocompromised citizens or persons vaccinated a year ago, as well as pregnant women and children.

All vaccines registered in the country show their effectiveness. Therefore their use will continue.
