Who cannot vote?

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the appointment of early elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, based on Articles 110 and 128 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Article 66 of the Election Code, early elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be held on July 9.

By Article 128 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 18 have the right to elect and be elected.

Article 5 of the Election Code states which citizens cannot participate in elections:

– citizens recognized by the court as incompetent;

– persons held in places of deprivation of liberty by a court verdict for grave and especially grave crimes.

Persons who have reached the age of 18 on election day, are held in places of deprivation of liberty, and are not included in a group of high social danger, can exercise the right to vote.

In places of deprivation of liberty, convicts with the right to participate in elections are entered into the unified electronic list of voters in the prescribed manner.

Precinct election commissions created in places of deprivation of liberty must inform voters about the preparation and conduction of elections.
