14:24 / 2023-08-01

Have you tried Oltiariq grapes? It is remembered for its unique taste, with berries shining like the sun’s rays. That is why the grapes grown in these places are in high demand abroad.

The Oltiariq district’s advanced experience in growing grapes will now be distributed throughout the country by the President’s instructions.

At a demonstrative workshop organized in Fergana region on introducing the Oltiariq experience in viticulture, specific tasks in this direction were defined, and farmers shared the secrets of caring for plantations.

In Uzbekistan, various varieties of grapes are grown on 181,000 hectares. A large viticulture school has been formed in Oltiariq district. Currently, household vineyards cover almost 5,000 hectares. Grapes are also grown on another thousand hectares of land outside the households. Today, residents of Oltiariq supply dozens of varieties of tasty and juicy grapes to the population, and thousands of tons of grapes are sent abroad.

Khusanboy Gofurov, who lives in “Chinortagi” mahalla, has been engaged in viticulture for almost half a century. Currently, more than ten varieties of grapes are grown in his yard, including “Khusayni”, “Rizamat Ota”, “Kelin Barmoq”, “Qora Shakhzoda”, and “Shokhonak”. It is also worth noting that the members of this family are highly experienced in keeping ripe grapes right on the vine from autumn to next spring. Grapes are stored in natural conditions for a long time and delivered to customers without losing their taste and juiciness.

The workshop participants visited this house and got acquainted with the secrets of growing grapes. Mr. Gofurov spoke in detail about the grape varieties grown on his farm, a particular care method. The house owner also surprised the workshop participants by treating them to the last year’s grapes stored in the house. In the Gofurov family, viticulture methods are passed down from generation to generation. Mr. Gofurov’s father also knew how to keep grapes in his warehouse for a long time.

The workshop participants were also greatly impressed by the achievements of farmers living in “Uzumchi”, “Kulbuyi” and “Mirfozil” mahallas. Each farm grows from 5 to 20 tons of grapes annually and receives a corresponding income. During the three-day workshop, the guests got acquainted with the intensive methods of grape care used in “Namuna” and “Qushtepa” mahallas of Qushtepa district, the activities of the Ilyasov agricultural cluster for the storage, sorting, and processing of fruits and vegetables, as well as the capabilities of the agro logistic center.
