President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a dialogue with young people on February 14. At the virtual meeting, measures to further expand opportunities for youth were discussed. 

The President said he had signed three essential documents supporting youth entrepreneurship.

According to the first document, a fund has been established under the Youth Agency, allocating $100 million. Young entrepreneurs will receive preferential loans of up to 2.5 billion UZS, and startup projects will receive investments of up to 2 billion UZS. 

The second document introduces a new system to ensure the employment of university graduates. For this purpose, $100 million will be directed to the National Bank, and banking services will be introduced to transform their initiatives and ideas into projects.

According to the third document, Aloqabank will be transformed into a key bank supporting youth business projects, with an allocation of $200 million. The bank will provide preferential microloans of up to 100 million UZS for up to seven years to support self-employed youth projects.

In Uzbekistan, qualified young individuals who open specialized language learning centers in remote areas will receive interest-free loans of up to 120 million UZS. Additionally, payments for young people studying foreign languages at private educational centers will be covered under the “two plus six” month scheme. Under this arrangement, students will pay for the first two months from their funds, while the state will finance the remaining six months.

Uzbekistan’s national amputee football team won the Asian Championships held in Bangladesh, defeating all their opponents. In the final match, they secured a decisive victory over Indonesia with a score of six to zero.

The Assistant to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, participated in the Uzbekistan Women Scientists Forum on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 

“In Uzbekistan, forty-eight percent of scientists are women! Their research, discoveries, and dedication inspire, demonstrating that science needs them as much as they need science”, Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized in her speech.

After a twenty-six-year hiatus, the Uzbekistan delegation won a gold medal at the Asian Winter Games for the first time. The pair of Dmitrii Chigirev and Ekaterina Geynish, national figure skating team members, became champions of the Asian Winter Games.
