December 8 – Constitution Day

The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted on December 8, 1992. This holiday is widely celebrated throughout Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent holiday greetings to the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of Constitution Day.

On the occasion of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a Decree on pardoning 483 people serving a sentence in the form of deprivation of liberty, who sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction.

On December 4, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.

Issues such as enhancing the competence and potential of national agencies, training highly qualified personnel, and promising projects in nuclear energy, agriculture, water management, healthcare, and ecology were discussed at the meeting.

A new electric train has been launched from Tashkent to Khojikent. On December 6, Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Khojikent on this electric train. The number of seats in the carriages is 586. The train can reach up to 120 kilometers per hour. Three trips will be launched per day in each direction.

A representative office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature will be opened in Tashkent.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and Director General of the International Union for Conservation of NatureGrethel Aguilar, during a conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Global Taekwondo family celebrated outstanding achievements at the unique World Taekwondo 2024 Gala Awards in Hong Kong, China. Two-time Olympic champion Ulugbek Rashitov took the Male Athlete of the Year award. A worldwide vote determined the winner of this nomination.

Dilorom Yuldosheva, a businesswoman from Uzbekistan, was included in the BBC 100 Women 2024 list of inspiring and influential women.

Dilorom Yuldosheva, from Denov district of Surkhandarya region, lost both legs during the harvest two years ago. After the tragedy, she started a new life, opening a sewing business. She learned the basics of entrepreneurship and resource management and went on to train more than 40 apprentices. Within months, her company grew significantly, running free workshops and securing contracts to produce uniforms for workers and schoolchildren.
