Water-saving technologies to be widely introduced

The Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a press conference on implementation of tasks related to the ministry as defined in the Address of the President to the Oliy Majlis.

The Minister of Water Resources Shavkat Khamroyev presented information on the ongoing work. Therefore, in 2020, it is planned to introduce water-saving technologies in 44 thousand hectares in the country, in particular in 24.8 thousand hectares of cotton fields – drip irrigation technology. The allocation of subsidies for this is important in developing the activities of farmers and dehkans.

At the event, experts focused on the process of managing water facilities, the work on automating the system of monitoring and accounting water. In particular, in accordance with the agreement signed with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), modern Smart Water system is being introduced at the main water bodies of the country. Within the framework of the project funded by KOICA grant funds, devices were installed at 61 water facilities that allow online monitoring of water consumption. If in 2020 this system will be implemented at another 90 facilities, then by 2025 it is planned to bring their number to 300, and by 2030 – to 1000.
