Uzbekistan delegation included the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, Director of the Capital Market Development Agency Atabek Nazirov, Deputy Minister of Energy Umidjon Israilov, Chairman of Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association Ilkhom Khaydarov, Chairman of Uzcharmsanoat Association Fakhriddin Boboyev, representatives of other economic structures.
The American side included U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells, Associate Administrator of U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) Daniel Whitley, as well as over 200 representatives of large American and Canadian companies such as Fortune 500, General Electric, Boeing, John Deere, VISA, Procter & Gamble, Golden Horizon and others.
The forum, organized by the Embassy together with American – Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC), was held in a new format with participation of ministers from Central Asian countries, Afghanistan and the United States.
Relevant thematic panel sessions were held. Issues of enhancing cooperation in trade, modernizing regional infrastructure, stimulating industrial cooperation, creating joint ventures of competitive products and attracting high-tech of the United States to the region were discussed.
At the business forum, the official opening ceremony of two Uzbek trading houses Samarkand Gilamlari and Gulnor for the sale of silk carpets and textile products in Philadelphia was also held.
