Wall painting fragments dating back to the IV century BC found in Bukhara
According to the Department of Cultural Heritage of Bukhara region, archaeological excavations have been completed on the territory of the former Shakhristan market in the historical center of the city.
The research was conducted by a group of scientists from the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University in the United States, led by Professor of the Institute Sören Stark.
Fragments of a wall painting were found by archaeologists.
According to scientists, presumably, the painting was created in the IV century BC, even before the appearance of wall paintings found in the palace of Bukharkhudats in Varakhsha.
However, the discoveries of archaeologists did not end there. The researchers also found an unusual children’s toy in the shape of a horse, covered with a green glaze.
Scientists plan to continue archaeological excavations in the area next year.
