Vladimir Norov: “The amendments introduced to the draft Constitution have included all the necessary items”

The International Institute for Central Asia, together with the Institute of Eurasian Studies of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations held a roundtable discussion on “Internal development processes and prospects for strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China”.

The event was attended by the Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Vladimir Norov, Research Professor and Director of the Institute of Eurasian Studies at China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations Ding Xiaoxing, as well as experts from two institutes.

The guests were informed about the upcoming referendum and the need to harmonize the Basic Law with the modern realities of society, consistently carried out reforms, and, most importantly, create a solid legal foundation for building a New Uzbekistan.

Vladimir Norov noted that the Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis and the people in December 2022 became one of the main political events of the last year, which determined the key priorities for further reforming and modernizing the country for the coming period. The main place in the speech of the Head of state was taken by the topic of building a New Uzbekistan, where a free and prosperous life of the multinational people is ensured. In this context, the Head of state called the improvement of the Basic Law one of the priorities, which should meet the modern development of society. The amendments introduced to the draft Constitution have included all the necessary items that will meet the new realities and ensure the achievement of the goals outlined in the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.
