Vladimir Norov: “Tajikistan is one of the key links in Central Asia”
11:28 / 2023-03-11

Tajikistan’s Dushanbe hosted an international scientific and practical conference on “Tajikistan – Central Asia: A policy of good neighborliness, mutual support, eternal friendship and joint development”.

Director of the International Institute for Central Asia Vladimir Norov noted that this meeting is taking place on the eve of the international holiday Navruz – the traditional New Year of our peoples, a symbol of peace and goodness, the triumph of humanism and the traditions of good neighborliness. This holiday has been promoting integration, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding, unity and solidarity for thousands of years.

Today, our region is united not only by a common history, culture, traditions and values, but also by common challenges and a vision of development prospects.

According to Mr. Norov, thanks to the active participation of Dushanbe in the work initiated six years ago within the framework of the Consultative Meetings, our fraternal country in a short time managed to form the goals and objectives of cooperation, start moving towards the consolidation of the region.

It is no coincidence that at the next meeting of our leaders in 2021 in Avaza, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was presented with the first highest award – the “Honorary Badge of the Heads of State of Central Asia” for outstanding services in the development of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual understanding and cooperation, for strengthening peace and security in the region, promotion of common interests and initiatives of our countries in the international arena.

It was emphasized that the upcoming fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, which will be held this year in Dushanbe, will undoubtedly demonstrate the desire of the parties to build up ties, give additional impetus for the further rapprochement of relations that have acquired a fundamentally new, systemic and dynamic character.
