VEON Group of Companies delegation visited Uzbekistan to represent Mr. Andrzej Malinowski, appointed as the new CEO of Beeline Uzbekistan.
The delegation was led by the Group Co-Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Unitel LLC (TM Beeline in Uzbekistan), Mr. Kaan Terzioğlu.
Commenting on his appointment, Andrzej Malinowski said: “I am glad that I have the chance to live and work in this beautiful country. At first, it is a great honor for me to join the team of professionals. Currently, several urgent tasks need to be revised and solved based on the existing needs. The priority of the company will be the subscriber, improving the user experience and the service level”.
The stay of the delegation members in Uzbekistan was eventful and fruitful.
The development of digital systems, the widespread introduction of the achievements of information and communication technologies were in the focus of the meeting at the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the country. They discussed the development of the “Digital Uzbekistan-2030” strategy. The guests were informed about the new draft law of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications on the development of telecommunications, including the liberalization of access to the international Internet network in Uzbekistan.
At the meeting with the Minister of Health Abdukhakim Khadjibayev, the participation of the VEON Group of Companies in the projects of the Ministry for e-medicine and digitalization, the creation of joint social projects were considered. During the meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the guests appreciated their contribution to the support and development of entrepreneurship in the country.

The current issues and questions were raised during a meeting of top managers of the VEON and Beeline Uzbekistan with journalists from leading news publications and bloggers. Answering one of the questions, Mr. Kaan Terzioğlu noted that the company will continue investing in the development of the 4G network and new projects of Beeline Uzbekistan. He also expressed hope for further liberalization of the telecommunications market in the country.
Mr. Kaan Terzioğlu, Advisor of the VEON Group of Companies Boris Tadic and Andrzej Malinowski also paid a working visit to Jizzakh region. The guests were shown the Sharof Rashidov Museum, where they were informed about the life and work of this outstanding political leader and writer. At the specialized IT school No. 8 in Jizzakh, the delegation was greeted with warmth and hospitality. Recall that Beeline Uzbekistan has invested over 700 million sums in modernizing the school and equipping it with new equipment. The guests planted trees in the school garden. After the cultural program, they were introduced to the conditions created at the school. “I am sure that this IT school will contribute to the education of the younger generation of the region, preparing them to meet new challenges in the digital economy”, emphasized Kaan Terzioğlu.
The delegation also visited the local branch of IT Park. The delegation got acquainted with the IT Center, where everyone can learn computer literacy, programming, mobile robotics, e-sports and English.
At the meeting with the Hokim of Jizzakh region, Ergash Saliyev, the guests were shown a video about the investment potential of the region, its opportunities and features.
The delegation visited a Presidential School in Jizzakh that is under construction.
During the conversation with Deputy Minister of Public Education Rustam Karimjanov, they talked about the need for close cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education and strengthening work in the implementation of projects related to e-education and the development of startups.
The delegation completed the visit to Uzbekistan with a meeting at the Ministry of Finance, where the process of regulating the taxation of base stations was discussed.
