A Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation has been signed between the Space Research and Technology Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekspace Agency) and the British company OneWeb.
An agreement was reached to establish a Center of Expertise on the use of the OneWeb innovative low-orbit satellite telecommunications system with low signal delay and high bandwidth.
The parties intend to make the necessary efforts to work out the issues of providing high-speed broadband Internet via OneWeb communication satellites to remote and hard-to-reach rural settlements, as well as enterprises in various sectors of the economy.
According to the Acting Director-General of the Uzbekspace Agency Shukhrat Kadirov, the availability of OneWeb telecommunication services in Uzbekistan will serve to effectively implement the tasks envisaged by state programs for the development of information technologies, ensure the provision of innovative communication services even in remote regions of the country.
