Uzbekneftegaz JSC has 118 fields, 85 of which produce natural gas, and the remaining 33 are under exploration. The natural gas reserves of these fields make up 49 percent of the country’s total gas reserves, that is, about 1 trillion cubic meters. 1,450 wells are used for hydrocarbon production, and all of them belong to Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
In recent years, Uzbekneftegaz JSC is conducting large-scale geological exploration work aimed at increasing the reserves of the former and discovery of new deposits to meet the needs of the population and sectors of the economy in natural gas in the Ustyurt, Bukhara-Khiva, Gissar and Fergana regions, together with domestic and foreign enterprises with modern equipment.
Uzbekneftegaz JSC presented 20 sites prepared by the Ministry of Mining and Geology, where it is planned to drill new wells.
In 2020-2022, 4,000 square kilometers of 3D exploration were carried out in the country, 42 new fields were involved in drilling, 116 new wells were drilled, as a result of which, in addition to the discovery of 12 new natural gas fields, an increase in reserves of more than 90 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 3.8 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons was achieved.
In 2022, Uzbekneftegaz JSC discovered the Yangi Olot, Yangi Tegirmon and Niyoz fields. Currently, the main exploration activities are aimed at the Yangi Tegirmon group of fields and the Niyoz gas condensate field, where 2 new wells are being drilled.
In total, 32.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 100.2 thousand tons of oil and 1,428.3 thousand tons of gas condensate products were produced in 2022, 697.8 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas were produced, and 236.5 thousand tons of sulfur were obtained at gas processing plants. 127.4 thousand tons of polyethylene were produced.
The Bukhara oil refinery received about 1 million tons of gasoline, as well as 331 thousand tons of diesel fuel and 141 thousand tons of jet fuel. The Uzbekistan GTL plant, equipped with high-tech equipment, produced 140,000 tons of diesel fuel.
A macro-investment program of Uzbekneftegaz JSC for 2023 was developed in accordance with international standards to develop geological and technical measures aimed at forming forecast indicators for the production of hydrocarbon raw materials from the fields, as well as monitoring the process of their implementation by Schlumberger, one of the world’s leading companies.
The program provides for the drilling of 81 production and 30 exploration wells, the overhaul of 56, the implementation of construction, modernization and reconstruction work at 25 technological facilities.
In addition, as a result of current repairs and intensification works at 552 wells, a reduction in the production of base natural gas by 990.7 million cubic meters will be prevented.
It is planned to build and launch compressor stations at the South Tandircha, Shurtan, Girsan, Chulkuvar and Yangikazgan fields to ensure the stability of natural gas production.
The overhaul of 35 gas turbine engines at compressor stations, the construction of gas pre-treatment units at Shurtan, Tegirmon and Arslon fields, as well as the construction of 192 kilometers of gas pipelines of various types are also envisaged to prevent gas compression in the fields and increase throughput capacity.
In 2023, as part of exploration work, it is planned to drill an additional 50 wells in new areas, as well as carry out 3D seismic work on an area of 1.5 thousand square kilometers. For this, the Ministry of Mining and Geology presented 25 new sites.
Together with the Schlumberger service company, work will be carried out based on the results of studying the deep geological structure of the Sudochy swamp, all geological, geophysical and other data obtained during well drilling, by re-attribute analysis of 3D seismic indicators of sections of the Ustyurt region with high prospects at depths of 4000-6500 meters using new eXchroma technologies.
According to Uzbekneftegaz JSC, as a result of the implementation of these measures, in 2023 it is planned to produce 32.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 61.0 thousand tons of oil, 1310.0 thousand tons of gas condensate and achieve the production of 672.1 thousand tons of liquefied gas.
