Recently, at the Uzbekistan Embassy in Saudi Arabia, a cultural and enlightenment event entitled “Uzbekistan – A Unique Hub of World Heritage” was held, timed to coincide with this year’s 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in the city of Samarkand.
The meeting, held jointly with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations, the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, and the Uzbekistan Embassy in Riyadh, was attended by leaders of relevant organizations in Saudi Arabia, representatives of the Uzbek diaspora, and students.

The event was opened by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia, Nodir Turgunov, and the Vice-Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Durbek Sayfullayev, who noted that following the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris from November 7 to 22, 2023, a historic decision was made to hold the following, 43rd session in the city of Samarkand in 2025. This decision was supported by all 194 member states of the organization, representing a strong endorsement of the systemic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years.

Then, a presentation on Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage, international scientific ties, and tourism potential was held. A special video was also shown, highlighting Uzbekistan’s historical monuments and tourism opportunities.
