A ceremony was held at the Ministry of Culture of France to award the Order of Arts and Letters (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) at the rank of Officer to Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan.

French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati highlighted the consistency and effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s state cultural policy, which contributes to the strengthening of the country’s strategic partnership with France.

In recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and France in the fields of culture and the arts has reached a new level, thanks to significant initiatives such as the large-scale exhibition of Uzbek heritage at the Louvre and active participation in international cultural forums. The Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan plays a key role in this collaboration, implementing landmark projects as part of the President’s initiatives.

The title of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters is one of the highest honors France bestows for contributions to culture. Each year, it is awarded to no more than 60 individuals worldwide.
