Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism presented in Saint Petersburg

A presentation of Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism potential and B2B meetings between tour operators of the two countries has taken place in Saint Petersburg.

Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports Utkir Saidov addressed the event and informed participants about the reforms and high attention paid to the development of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan.

It was also noted that the great importance is attached to the preservation of historical architectural monuments of Uzbekistan and the development of modern hotel infrastructure. Work is underway to liberalize the visa regime, simplify the procedure for registering foreign citizens, provide benefits and preferences for the development of the country's tourism industry.

Prospects for the development of cooperation in tourism between Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg were discussed. Tour operators of Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg agreed to develop new tourism destinations, tourist products, and strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership.

Following the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports expressed gratitude to the Embassy and Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation for the assistance in organizing events to promote pilgrimage tourism in Saint Petersburg.
