Uzbekistan’s pavilion at Expo 2020 receives its visitors
17:07 / 2021-11-03

The World Expo 2020 is being held from October 1 to March 31 for the first time in the history of the Middle East and South Asia. The exposition is located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi and covers an area of 438 hectares.

More than 190 countries are taking part in the exhibition. It is expected to attract about 16 times more visitors than the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. More than 60 events per day will be held during the EXPO.

The master plan, developed by the American HOK, is organized around the Central Square Al Wasl, surrounded by three large thematic areas. Each of them is dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Dubai EXPO 2020 – Opportunities, Mobility and Sustainability.

Uzbekistan’s National Pavilion is created in accordance with the laws of Dubai, the UAE, as well as in accordance with the rules of the International Exhibitions Bureau.

The pavilion is located next to one of the main entrances to the exhibition between the thematic zones Sustainable Development and Mobility and embodies the theme of mobility.

The architecture of the pavilion, designed by the OP3 Expo, reflects the concept of unity and travel along the Great Silk Road. The pavilion is a structure of three elliptical buildings that symbolize cities on the Great Silk Road: Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. These buildings represent a journey through Uzbekistan in three dimensions: past, present and future. The facade of the pavilion is made in a traditional architectural style: the pavilion is surrounded by an oasis and symbolizes the virtual journey of Uzbekistan from the past to the future.

The pavilion demonstrates the mobility of ideas, people and cultures that come together in a common quest to shape the future. This concept is in line with the overall theme of the Expo 2020 “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

The exhibition in the pavilion of Uzbekistan is open to everyone. The goal is to show the past, present and future of Uzbekistan. A journey through the pavilion is a storyline that tells about the historical significance, current achievements and future opportunities of the country.

On December 8, the National Day of Uzbekistan will be held within the framework of the exhibition. Cultural programs will be presented. The arrival of an official delegation from Tashkent is also expected.
