Uzbekistan’s initiatives in the humanitarian sphere have been put forward
09:00 / 2025-10-22

Geneva hosts the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, took part in the plenary session of the assembly on “Upholding humanitarian norms and supporting humanitarian action in times of crisis”.

Ms. Narbayeva stressed in her speech that global conflicts, crises, and humanitarian threats have a serious negative impact on the lives of millions of people. The crucial role of parliaments in promoting humanitarian principles and ensuring the protection of human lives in such conditions was highlighted.

Uzbekistan’s humanitarian initiatives were put forward at the assembly. Currently, about 310 million people around the world need assistance as a result of armed clashes, which makes the issue of compliance with humanitarian norms even more urgent.

Uzbekistan is actively participating in the international humanitarian movement, providing practical assistance to the needy population in troubled regions by providing housing, medical services, and social support. These efforts clearly demonstrate Uzbekistan’s commitment to the principles of humanism and international cooperation.

At the meeting, specific proposals were put forward to deepen legislative and digital interaction between parliaments, effectively and specifically channel humanitarian resources, expand financial participation in global initiatives, and train highly qualified personnel in the humanitarian field.

It was noted that humanism serves as a legal guarantee of peace and the spiritual foundation of sustainable development, with the increasing role of parliaments in this process deserving attention.
