Tashkent hosted the official opening ceremony of the Asian Fencing Championship.

The event was attended by the President of the Asian Fencing Confederation Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee Oybek Kasimov, President of Uzbekistan Fencing Federation Maksud Abdusamatov.

Uzbekistan’s saber fencers in the finals defeated athletes from China with a score of 45:33 and won the gold medals in the championship. Uzbekistan team took first place, the Chinese team – second, and athletes from Kazakhstan – third.

At the Asian Championship with the participation of more than 700 athletes from 38 countries, Uzbekistan’s fencers in the team event won seven gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
