Uzbekistan's experience in the anti-drug sphere presented at the Session of the UN Commission in Vienna

Uzbekistan delegation took part in the meetings of the session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND).

According to the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Vienna, at the meetings of the delegation members with UNODC officials, issues of combating drug trafficking in the country, as well as factors affecting its development, activities carried out in the country through cross-border cooperation within the framework of international projects and programs were discussed.

As part of the session, a side event was organized under the theme “Uzbekistan's efforts to strengthen a drug–free world. Prospects for strengthening regional cooperation in the anti-drug sphere”.

The event was attended by more than 120 representatives of delegations from various countries and representatives of international and regional organizations in combating drug trafficking.

The participants noted the importance of the joint efforts of UNODC and Uzbekistan in the fight against drug trafficking and maintaining peace in the Central Asian region. The increase in drug seizures, which is evidence of the joint efforts of the country's law enforcement agencies within the framework of UNODC programs in drug control and combating, was emphasized.

UNODC officials expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for supporting the new Research Center for Monitoring the Drug Situation in Afghanistan and noted the importance of cooperation between the state and international organizations with civil society and the private sector to ensure the security of the region.
