Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with the Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office Martin Harris, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The state and prospects for further development of multifaceted Uzbek-British cooperation were discussed during the talks.
The British side announced its readiness to continue supporting large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at modernizing the national economy, in particular, through the program of assistance to Uzbekistan “Effective governance to ensure economic development”.
Mutual interest in realizing the existing significant potential for strengthening partnership in the political, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres was confirmed.
The main attention was paid to the issues of enhancing cooperation between the parties in providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and in countering transnational threats.
The parties also exchanged views on the current aspects of international and regional policy.
