Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov met with the leadership and members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Uzbekistan’s trade-economic, investment and tourism potential were presented.
The main attention was paid to the prospects of joint production in pharmaceuticals, which is one of the leading sectors of the Indian economy, accounting for about 10% of global pharmaceutical production. Information was provided about the benefits and preferences that are offered to investors in pharmaceutical free economic zones created in Uzbekistan.
The participants noted that the consistent measures implemented in Uzbekistan to further liberalize the economy and strengthen favorable conditions for doing business are of great interest among the business circles of India. At the same time, the great attention paid by the Government of Uzbekistan to the protection of the rights and interests of foreign investors was emphasized.
Following the event, an agreement was reached with several Indian companies to organize their visits to Uzbekistan to further promote joint investment projects, in particular in pharmaceuticals, textiles, ICT, and others.
