Uzbekistan’s chess players take sixth place among 26 teams

Belgrade hosted the first Chess Olympiad for persons with disabilities.

Uzbekistan’s Sirojiddin Zayniddinov, Sardorbek Mamadjanov, Marsel Shoyusupov, Ahadkhon Kimsanbayev and Sobirjon Saidov scored eight points due to 4 wins and 2 losses and took sixth place among 26 teams. They were defeated in the competition against the Filipinos in the first round and against the Hungarians in the fifth round, but in all the rest they won.

The first place was taken by the Polish team, the second by the IPCA chess players, and the third by the team from the Philippines. The following places were taken by India, Serbia-1, and Uzbekistan.

According to the results of the 4th board game, Ahadkhon Kimsanbayev took second place. He was also recognized as the youngest participant in the Olympiad among the visually impaired, and Marsel Shoyusupov was recognized as the youngest participant in the tournament for the hearing impaired.
