Kyrgyzstan hosted the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship-2023.

Members of the Uzbekistan National Team took first place in the team event, winning 5 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals in the classical direction of the games, which was attended by 256 young chess players from 10 countries of the region. Athletes from Kazakhstan have 4 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Chess players from India won two gold, silver, and bronze medals each.

In the blitz tournament of the competition, members of the Uzbekistan team won 4 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. They surpassed all teams in the total number of medals, but the Kazakhs received five gold and three bronze medals and moved up one position. The Sri Lanka team, which has 2 gold and silver medals, took third place.

The game of Uzbekistan chess players was recognized as the best among all teams. They were awarded a special cup.

Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Chess Federation Khusan Turdialiyev participated in the championship as a head coach.
