Uzbekistan’s Buddhist heritage attracts Indian pilgrims

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India Dilshod Akhatov has met with the Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation Shakti Sinha and Secretary General Ven. Dr. Dhammapiya.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation.

The leaders of the International Buddhist Confederation were provided with detailed information about the heritage of Buddhism in Uzbekistan, the work carried out to preserve and study it.

Representatives of the confederation showed great interest in the rich historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, noting that the historical centers of Buddhism in Uzbekistan are a new attractive place for foreign pilgrims, especially for Buddhists in India.

An agreement was reached on sending a delegation of scientists and journalists who are members of the confederation to Uzbekistan to study and popularize the existing heritage.
