Uzbekistan’s archaeological treasures presented in Berlin
17:08 / 2023-07-04

Visitors to the James Simon Gallery, among the exhibits of the exhibition “Archaeological Treasures of Uzbekistan – from Alexander the Great to the Kushan Empire”, can become acquainted with a sculpture dated to the II millennium BC.

An amulet of two intertwined snakes was found in the valley of the Sokh River in 1893. A serpentine stone object in the form of a horseshoe with a polished surface served as a handle.  The heads of snakes with open mouths are directed at each other. The eyes were probably highlighted with special inserts.

The sculpture presented in the exhibition testifies to the high artistic level of the masters of the Bronze Age of Uzbekistan. Visitors can also enjoy other unique exhibits at the exhibition open in Berlin until January 14, 2024. This has been reported by the Press Service of the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
