Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Lithuania, Timur Rakhmanov, based in Riga, presented his credentials to the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda.
During a brief conversation following the official ceremony, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Lithuania were discussed.
The President of Lithuania highly praised the development of political dialogue and trade-economic cooperation between the two countries. By the end of 2024, he noted that Uzbekistan had become one of Lithuania’s most extensive trade and economic partners.
Gitanas Nausėda expressed full support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives within the EU and the country’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). He also highlighted that the upcoming “Central Asia – European Union” forum, scheduled to take place in Samarkand this year, is a testament to the high level of cooperation between Tashkent and the EU.
The Lithuanian President expressed his country’s willingness to strengthen ties in the energy sector, mainly through knowledge exchange in green energy development.
