Uzbekistan, U.S. enhance cooperation in healthcare

On December 24, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States Javlon Vakhabov met with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Murad Kurbanov, in Nukus.

Issues of enhancing cooperation between the relevant agencies of Karakalpakstan and their American partners were discussed at the meeting. Special attention was paid to equipping hospitals and medical centers in the Aral Sea region with modern medical equipment from the United States.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the resolution of the entire complex of logistics issues related to the organization of deliveries of humanitarian aid to Karakalpakstan by Project C.U.R.E. Charity Organization.

The total amount of planned assistance from the U.S. to Karakalpakstan is estimated at $3 million. Humanitarian cargo will include 10 containers of medical supplies, equipment, mobile ventilators, and others.

It is planned to form a list of necessary medical supplies and sign a Memorandum. Within the framework of this document, Uzbekistan will be able to receive humanitarian cargo within two years and transfer it to hospitals and medical institutions of Karakalpakstan.
