A “C5+1” meeting – a summit of inclusive cooperation between the United States and the countries of Central Asia – was held in Washington.
Cooperation within the “C5+1” format will serve as a foundation for mutual understanding and joint development across a range of areas and sectors. It is noteworthy that Uzbekistan is actively participating in advancing cooperation within this framework.
“Global politics is transforming into a space of new realities and interests”, said Gulchehra Tojiboyeva, Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. “Geopolitical processes are becoming increasingly complex, and the importance of global cooperation in the areas of security, economy, and ecology is growing. From this perspective, the role and significance of the Central Asian region are vital.
The “C5+1” meeting opens new political, economic, and humanitarian opportunities for the countries of the region. The concept of “inclusive partnership” is not merely a diplomatic phrase but a new political culture that takes into account the interests of all participating states and aims for common development through an equal and open dialogue.
An important aspect of inclusive cooperation is economic development. Uzbekistan holds a leading position in the region and is actively building new industrial capacity. Joint projects with American and international investors provide not only financial benefits but also promote collaboration in technology, innovation, and science.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with U.S. Senator Steve Daines, Co-Chair of the Senate Central Asia Caucus. The meeting was aimed not only at strengthening relations between the two countries but also at achieving practical results through inclusive cooperation and interparliamentary dialogue.
The “C5+1” format is a platform for cooperation between the United States and the five Central Asian states – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. This format offers broad opportunities not only for political dialogue but also in the fields of transport, energy, digital economy, efficient water resource management, and environmental project implementation. Uzbekistan is actively engaged in this process and is taking steps to ensure regional stability through the implementation of joint projects.
The parties especially emphasized that cooperation in legislation, investment, and entrepreneurship can be advanced through parliamentary engagement. Interregional mechanisms allow for the effective implementation of projects involving local authorities and the business community. This strengthens the region’s trust environment and accelerates the implementation of economic and environmental initiatives.
Following the meeting, several important agreements and directions were defined in Uzbekistan – American relations: attracting investments, expanding trade ties, strengthening cooperation with the state of Montana, and planning a visit by business representatives to Uzbekistan.
As a leading economic and innovative country in the region, Uzbekistan actively supports new sectors, green energy projects, and small business development. Issues of water resources and ecology, including the restoration of the Aral Sea region, creation of green zones, and expansion of the use of renewable energy sources, are also among the key topics being addressed through joint programs within the “C5+1” format.
Uzbekistan maintains an active position within the “C5+1” format and inclusive cooperation, acting not only as a participant but also as an initiator. Practical agreements have been reached following the meetings, and joint projects and mechanisms for interparliamentary dialogue have been developed. These processes are vital for ensuring national and regional stability, economic growth, and addressing environmental challenges”.
