23:16 / 2023-09-08

As previously reported, Tashkent hosts a significant forum in medicine these days. One of the main events of the Health Week of Uzbekistan and the United States took place today at the Trilliant Tashkent Hotel.

The international conference was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, ministry employees, heads of medical centers, higher education institutions, and about a hundred highly qualified medical workers who arrived from the United States.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan – American relations have risen to a new level of strategic partnership. The official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the United States on May 15-17, 2018, significantly impacted the development of cooperation. The American government supports the large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in education and healthcare.

It should be noted that the vaccine supplied by the United States Uzbekistan as part of the fight against COVID-19 played an essential role in stabilizing the epidemiological situation and ensuring public health. Several projects implemented based on grants from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) allow the medical field to develop based on the demands of the times.

Together with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an international advanced training course “Basic level of the curriculum in practical epidemiology” was launched in Uzbekistan. In particular, as part of the COVID-19 vaccination program, with the help of specialists from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 800 family doctors, epidemiologists, and pediatricians improved their skills.

During the working visit of the Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Health A. Inoyatov to the United States, several important agreements were reached on developing bilateral cooperation in medicine. In particular, during a meeting with senior officials of the U.S. Agency for International Development administration, it was planned to establish a partnership on developing and implementing an investment package in medicine in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan – United States Health Week is an important step to enhance this cooperation.

At today’s conference, several issues related to the digitalization of the international sphere, the development of medical tourism, the expansion of investment projects, and the implementation of joint programs in medical education and traditional medicine were discussed.

A group of specialists from the United States was awarded the “Excellent Health Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan” badge for their worthy contribution to developing cooperation.

During the conference, several memorandums and contracts were signed between American partners and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, republican specialized medical centers, and higher medical education institutions of the country.

As part of the Health Week of Uzbekistan and the United States, high-tech surgical operations and masterclasses with the participation of American qualified specialists are held in several specialized scientific and practical medical centers, private medical institutions, and centers of higher medical education in Uzbekistan.
