First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev held virtual talks with the Chair of the British All-Party Parliamentary Group on Uzbekistan, Andrew Bridgen.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-British cooperation, including through the inter-parliamentary line, as well as holding several joint events in London timed to the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence and the upcoming presidential elections in the country.

The sides noted the importance of holding joint events in the UK Parliament in September to inform British politicians and public figures about the results of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Views were exchanged on further deepening parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on assistance in ensuring the effectiveness of joint events.
