The Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater named after Berdakh hosted a cultural and enlightenment event “30 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and Magtymguly – a symbol of friendship between the Uzbek, Karakalpak and Turkmen peoples”.
The Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan R. Nurazizov, the Chairman of the Turkmen National Cultural Center of the Republic of Karakalpakstan G. Avezdurdiyeva, the Chief Specialist of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries F. Bekov and others noted the conditions created in the country for representatives of all nations and nationalities, opportunities for the development of the native language, traditions, national culture and education of young people in the spirit of respect for national and universal values. The work carried out on the initiative of the Head of state to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples was also emphasized.
The participants discussed the role of the work of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly in the history of Turkmen literature and its significance in Uzbek-Turkmen literary relations.
It was noted that the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples have maintained a friendship, good neighborliness since ancient times, as strategic partners strived for a common goal. Therefore, relations between the two countries have deep roots and are based on mutual respect and trust.
It should be noted that currently, 206,000 Turkmens live in Uzbekistan, including more than 105,000 representatives of this nationality in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. All opportunities and conditions have been created in the country for the development and preservation of the national culture, language, traditions and customs of the Turkmen people.
There are 40 Turkmen language schools in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Much attention is paid to providing these schools with textbooks in their native language. Specialists in Turkmen philology are being trained at Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, and primary school teachers at Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz. The Turkmen National Cultural Center of the Republic of Karakalpakstan publishes the Mekan newspaper, and the “Orzu” song and dance ensemble operates.
At the exhibition organized as part of the event, handicrafts made by representatives of the Russian, Kazakh, Turkmen, Uzbek, Karakalpak, Ukrainian and Korean nationalities were demonstrated. A concert was held with the participation of creative teams of various nationalities.
