Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan enhance collaboration in the transport sector

A meeting of Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan Working Group on transport issues took place.

It was attended by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Muminov, Deputy Chairman of the Turkmenawtoulaglary agency V. Khodjanepesov, representatives of organizations in the railway, aviation and automotive industries of the two countries.

The parties noted that they are interested in the full restoration of the process of transporting goods by road between the two countries, as well as in simplifying the requirements for cargo transportation.

The Uzbek side proposed to the Turkmen side to reduce the time and simplify the requirements for issuing visas to Uzbek drivers engaged in international road transport.

To increase the volume of cargo transportation by rail and road transport, the parties exchanged views on the development of transport corridors and the expansion of cooperation.

The Uzbek side proposed to intensify work on organizing passenger transportation between the two countries. The parties agreed to improve the work within the framework of the Ashgabat Agreement by all participants in the Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman transport corridor.

At the meeting, the parties also considered other practical issues related to the implementation of international cargo transportation.
