Uzbekistan – Türkiye: Current state and prospects of cooperation discussed

On December 15, a roundtable discussion was held on “Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the Organization of Turkic States and prospects for Uzbekistan – Türkiye relations” in cooperation with the Development Strategy Center, the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation and the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by representatives of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Turkish Embassy in Uzbekistan, the Development Strategy Center, the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, as well as leading experts from the think tanks of the two countries.

The participants discussed the strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, the major success and results achieved following the Samarkand OTS Summit, and the current state and prospects for cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic and socio-cultural spheres.

President of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation Akkan Suver emphasized the importance of high-level meetings held regularly between the heads of the two states, which contribute to the development of effective cooperation.

During his membership in the OTS, the President of Uzbekistan put forward more than 35 specific initiatives aimed at further developing multilateral cooperation. To date, more than 20 of them have been effectively implemented.

Following the roundtable discussion, the parties agreed to further increase cooperation and continue the dialogue, active work within the leading think tanks of the two countries, as well as international institutions.
