Uzbekistan, Turkey strengthen cooperation in agriculture

Delegation of Turkey led by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli visits Uzbekistan.

A business forum was organized with the participation of Uzbekistan and Turkey entrepreneurs.

At the forum, issues of establishing new trade and economic ties between Turkey and Uzbekistan, implementing joint projects in seed production, intensive horticulture and greenhouse farming were discussed. Trade agreements were signed between businesspeople of the two countries.

“Since 2019, $401 million of Turkish investments have been attracted to the agricultural industry of our country within the framework of 66 projects”, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khujayev said. – To date, 42 projects have been fully launched. In addition to cotton and grain, the export potential of more than 80 types of agricultural products was assessed.

At the business forum, information was provided on the prospects for creating an Uzbekistan – Turkey Research Center for Seed Production, as well as a Center for Registration and Certification of Seeds, conditions and opportunities created for farmers. Businesspeople of the two countries exchanged experience.
