Employees of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea have met with the President of the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF) Kang Hyun-hwa.
The parties exchanged views on possible directions for further development of cooperation.
Taking into account the growing interest of the population in studying the Korean language in Uzbekistan, this issue was discussed with the head of the King Sejong Institute Foundation.
KSIF President noted that the Foundation is one of the main institutions in the Republic of Korea that promotes the Korean language and culture for foreigners and works in partnership with overseas universities and non-governmental organizations.
KSIF opens King Sejong Centers in regions where there is a high demand for the Korean language and culture and provides ongoing support for their successful activity.
It also provides funding for newly opened centers, selects qualified teachers and sends them to each center. The Foundation also develops various textbooks on the Korean language and culture.
There are 234 Royal Sejong Centers in 82 countries. There are also two Royal Sejong centers in Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached to increase the number of Korean language courses in Uzbekistan. In particular, KSIF is opening Korean language centers in Tashkent, Fergana, Samarkand, Namangan and Denau.
These centers to be fully funded by the foundation and provided with all the necessary literature and technical equipment. Qualified South Korean specialists will be sent to Uzbekistan to work during the summer training period.
