Uzbekistan to introduce AirFarm greenhouse technology based on Korean experience
13:48 / 2026-01-21

Uzbekistan plans to introduce modern AirFarm greenhouse technology, based on Korean experience with aeroponic systems. This was announced during a visit to the Republic of Korea by a delegation led by Oybek Omonov, Deputy Director of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovations in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As part of the visit, meetings are being held to discuss the introduction of innovative solutions, the practical application of scientific developments, and the expansion of international cooperation in the agricultural sector. In particular, negotiations took place in Seoul between Akmal Tulanov, Director of the Republican Agroservice Center, and Joseph Lee, General Manager of the Korean company Midbar Co., Ltd.

The parties discussed the prospects for introducing AirFarm technology in Uzbekistan – an energy-efficient aeroponic greenhouse system that enables stable year-round crop production. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to transfer four AirFarm units to Uzbekistan at no cost, valued at $150,000.

One unit will be installed at the National Center for Knowledge and Innovations in Agriculture, while three others will be based at the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon Crops, and Potato Growing. These sites are planned for cultivating leaf lettuce, various types of greens, and local potato varieties.

In addition, the parties agreed to organize two-week training and practical courses for farmers and relevant specialists to master aeroponic technologies.
