21:31 / 2024-03-27

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, proposed holding the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan.

In Geneva, Martin Chungong, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and Tanzila Narbayeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, signed an agreement to hold the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uzbekistan in 2025.

It is envisaged that at the next Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union there will be an exchange of experience between parliaments and familiarization with the activities of the parliament of Uzbekistan.

The Assembly will become an essential platform for expanding parliaments’ participation in achieving the SDGs, addressing issues of human rights and gender equality, and combating climate change.
