On April 25-30, Khiva will host Lazgi International Dance Festival.

The event is organized by UNESCO, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture, Khorezm region’s hokimiyat and other agencies.

The festival will be attended by representatives of over 30 countries. It will include exhibition pavilions dedicated to dance art, demonstrations of national musical instruments and costumes, handicrafts, works of fine and applied art, sculpture samples, feature films and documentaries, audio and video discs, books, albums, photographs, and trade fairs in Ichan-Kala Complex.

Khorezm dance “Lazgi” is included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO as an element of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. The decision on this was made on December 12, 2019, during the 14th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
