From March 19 to May 14, the Art and Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan organizes the International Theater Festival.
From March 15 to May 14, the Culture and Art Development Foundation will present several performances at the State Academic Grand Theater named after Alisher Navoi, at the Mark Wail’s Ilkhom Theater and the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater.
In September 2021, the grandiose premiere of the play “Lazgi” took place at the State Academic Grand Theater named after Alisher Navoi under the auspices of UNESCO. He was highly appreciated by the professional community and the audience. Two months later, in November 2021, the world premiere of a ballet performance at Dubai Opera took place as part of the cultural program of Uzbekistan at EXPO 2020.
The history of “Lazgi” goes back three thousand years. This ancient Khorezm dance is shrouded in mysteries and myths, personifies ancient folk wisdom, and its very name means “Soul and Love”.
In 2019, the “Lazgi” was included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The festival will also feature the premiere of Sergei Polunin’s show ballet Satori on 19-22 March.
